I disagree, because I can't breathe in your beer by being nearby. Can't view the video because I'm at work, though. :(

@windigo I disagree with your disagreement. Banning in restaurants, bars, sure. But they're going way too far.

What level of ban does the video discuss?

@windigo but the argument of being among drunk people can take the place

@gabrielsaldana I agree with the more nuanced point that the owner of the premises should be able to set smoking/non-smoking policy.

@windigo I often try to inhale other peoples beer :p unfortunately they take offence to that :(

@gabrielsaldana there's a bizarre argument that that bars/restaraunts want to be "forced" to ban smoking so they don't get blamed for it.

@windigo I haven't seen the video, but there have been bans in wide open spaces and in people's homes.

@kevingranade I think it should be like with the dressing code. Some have it, some don't, and one chooses where to go

Yeah, I disagree with that level of ban; as long as there's no risk of secondhand smoke, people can harm themselves as much as they want. :)

It does get trickier if public healthcare is involved... but I don't think we're there yet.

No, I don't think so; people being drunk around me doesn't impact my health (unless of course they physically impact me, that is. :)

@windigo what I say is, if you don't want a smoke atmosphere, choose to go to where there's no smoking allowed. But not force it on everyone

      @windigo Totally.

While I'd agree with the spirit of that, I think that there are circumstances, ie: employees, that make that unrealistic.

That said, I think things like "smoking rooms" should definitely be allowed, but currently aren't with the NYS ban.

@gabrielsaldana couldn’t a polluting factory use this same argument ;)

@gabrielsaldana In Spain the owners could decide (bars) and almost all of them went smoking, now have changed the law and is forbidden.

@windigo @johnnynull I ban smoking in my home, do I hate freedom?

Maybe not for the smoking ban, but the insistence on sub-dermal RFID tracking is a little much. :)

@windigo IOU one witty reply to that. I just don't have one right now.
