    I love you, ArchWiki. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tmux#Start_tmux_on_every_shell_login

      @windigo while I am a screen fan, I see no reason not to give tmux a try

      @windigo Yes! I've been wondering about that for a while but never bothered to look it up. Thx for sharing.

      I liked screen with byobu, but dig tmux a lot with it's defaults. You could use the same technique with screen. :)

      No problem - you can thank a borked home server for that research. :D

      @x1101 I switched to tmux because of screen's bug where it won't let you connect if you disconnect uncleanly sometimes

      @x1101 Once I started using it for that I've noticed it has superior term splitting functionality etc

      @x1101 @windigo out of the box, I prefer tmux; mostly because it doesn't steal CTRL+a and CTRL+e shell shortcuts.

      @windigo does this mean you running the goodness of Arch ?

      @windigo I kept bookmarking pages that helped with my recent install. Then realized they are all from the WIKI. ;) It is quite nice!

      Nope, but often my search brings me to it's wiki. I'm pretty sure my skeleton has the Debian swirl on it at this point. :)

      @windigo @nybill pacman -S archwiki should totally pull a copy of the whole wiki in html format

    • Kim Rasmussen Kim Rasmussen nybill

      @nybill #pacman -S arch-wiki-lite -> wiki-search

      That'd be awesome - they could probably replace the man database with that sucker. :)

      @windigo and then some

      about 10 months ago
    • x1101 x1101 Kim Rasmussen

      @theru guess someone already thought of that. Does it pull a 'current' version? Or do they snapshot it periodically?

      about 10 months ago
    • Kim Rasmussen Kim Rasmussen x1101

      @x1101 it snapshots :)

      about 10 months ago

      @johnnynull @theru @x1101 @nybill Alternatively, !archwiki is a !bang command in !duckduckgo.

      about 10 months ago
    • Windigo | ☴ Windigo | ☴ Jon Proietti

      Nothing - the trick works with screen, too.

      about 10 months ago
    • Kim Rasmussen Kim Rasmussen nybill , x1101 , johnnynull

      @johnnynull @nybill @jla @theru I tried to love #DDG but I oft spend 10 minutes there looking for something, then find in 1 google #ungood.

      about 10 months ago
    • johnnynull johnnynull Kim Rasmussen , nybill , x1101 , jla

      @x1101 @nybill @jla @theru Yeah, DDG is hit-or-miss for me, too. But it's improved. Plus, there's !g. ;-)

      about 10 months ago
    • x1101 x1101 Kim Rasmussen , nybill , johnnynull , jla

      @nybill @jla @theru @johnnynull I might have to give it another go. Its been a few months. When you use !g do they 'sanitize' it for trackin

      about 10 months ago
    • johnnynull johnnynull Kim Rasmussen , nybill , x1101 , jla

      @x1101 @nybill @jla @theru Yes, to my knowledge.
