I love you, ArchWiki. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tmux#Start_tmux_on_every_shell_login
- Chimo likes this.
-
@windigo while I am a screen fan, I see no reason not to give tmux a try
-
@windigo Yes! I've been wondering about that for a while but never bothered to look it up. Thx for sharing.
-
I liked screen with byobu, but dig tmux a lot with it's defaults. You could use the same technique with screen. :)
-
No problem - you can thank a borked home server for that research. :D
-
@x1101 I switched to tmux because of screen's bug where it won't let you connect if you disconnect uncleanly sometimes
-
@x1101 Once I started using it for that I've noticed it has superior term splitting functionality etc
-
@windigo does this mean you running the goodness of Arch ?
-
@windigo I kept bookmarking pages that helped with my recent install. Then realized they are all from the WIKI. ;) It is quite nice!
-
Nope, but often my search brings me to it's wiki. I'm pretty sure my skeleton has the Debian swirl on it at this point. :)
-
That'd be awesome - they could probably replace the man database with that sucker. :)
-
@x1101 arch-wiki-lite non of that html stuff
-
@x1101 by the way pacman -S arch-wiki-docs will give you the html one ;)
-
@theru Is there anything Arch doesn't do! Cuts my lawn, makes my lunch. :P
-
@windigo and then some
-
@theru guess someone already thought of that. Does it pull a 'current' version? Or do they snapshot it periodically?
-
@x1101 it snapshots :)
-
@theru any idea how often?
-
@nybill if I didn't use a frensh press it would be making my coffee -> http://ur1.ca/9v04s
-
@x1101 not sure I've got them installed but it's not often I use them. So never notices when they update
-
@x1101 Now you can claim copyright. I see this happen all the time. :P
-
@theru where does it install the files?
-
@jezra I admit I've never used the html ones always use the text one (arch-wiki-lite)
-
@jezra usr share doc
-
@nybill thanks buddy
-
@johnnynull @theru @x1101 @nybill Alternatively, !archwiki is a !bang command in !duckduckgo.
-
@jla Nice! (didn't know)
-
Sorry, but what's wrong with screen?
-
Nothing - the trick works with screen, too.
-
@x1101 @nybill @johnnynull pacman -S arch-firefox-search :)
-
@johnnynull @x1101 @nybill @jla That is normally what I do or !aur there is a few more arch specific ! searches you can do with duckduckgo
-
@nybill @jla @theru @johnnynull I might have to give it another go. Its been a few months. When you use !g do they 'sanitize' it for trackin
